CARRIERS / AIRLINES The main domestic carriers are ANA, All Nippon Airlines and JAL, Japan Air Lines. They have shops in most retail locations where you can buy tickets over the counter. Their websites offer ticketing and timetable information. If you are connecting to an international flight you can check it to a special desk at most airports to ensure your luggage is forwarded. Airlines regularly run special promotions such as allowing you and up to three friends discount travel if you fly on your birthday. It is worth keeping an eye our for these types of deals, but be ready to book at least one month ahead to qualify. DOMESTIC AIRPORTS There are domestic airports all over Japan and the airfare will often be competitive with the equivalent journey by bullet train.
